Senior Military Writer Under a five-year contract, the Senior Military Writer will support the United States Marine Corps Forces, Central Command (MARCENT) and subordinate commands. The scope of the requirement includes professional services for MARCENT located aboard MacDill Air Force Base (AFB), Florida, which serves as a Component Command to U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM). Specifically, the Senior Military Writer will support the Command Element. The Command Element directs executive level management and the required command and control actions for command-wide mission execution. Please note: This position is contingent upon the award of a contract. We will provide updates on the status of the contract and next steps during the hiring process. Responsibilities Develop Operational Update Products (OUP) through expert analysis and review of disparate and disaggregated documents. Provide OUP services to assist the Commander in introducing matters of high importance to the Commandant of the Marine Corps and the Combatant Commander. Assist in generating and refining studies, plans, briefs, policies, and strategies. Submit OUP in accordance with contract requirements. Work in close conjunction with all staff sections and be intimately familiar with G‑3 Operations on a daily basis. Provide written executive‑level summaries of operations, concepts, requirements, meetings and plans, Commander‑level correspondence in the form of AMHS message traffic, and other executive‑level correspondence on behalf of the Commander or the G‑3 Operations executive leadership. Conduct staff coordination, task management, and scheduling activities pertaining to G‑3 Operations as required by direction from the G‑3 Operations. Support annual staff indoctrination training that incorporates knowledge of the Commander's preferred writing and presentation styles and formats, best practices and techniques for presentation and addresses Commander's priorities for staff work. Assist the G‑3 in scheduling and presenting staff training up to two times per calendar year. Provide all oral and written deliverables using a mastery English language level. Prepare unclassified and classified information, as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications Certification & Education Must possess a current U.S. Passport with ability to travel and work overseas. Must be able to meet COMSEC briefing and Local Element management certification requirements available under OPNAVINST 2201.4, DoD Instruction 8523.01 and Air Force Manual 17‑1301. Must be able to complete an in‑scope (per current DoD 6‑year reinvestigation requirement), favorable ST5 investigation (including SBPR, PPR, T5R, or current enrollment in the DoD Continuous Evaluation (CE) / Continuous Vetting (CV) program), adjudicated for SCI eligibility by the DoD Central Adjudication Facility (DoD CAF) without conditions, exceptions, or waivers at the time of performance and must maintain the level of security required for the life of the contract. Must possess a TS/SCI Security Clearance. Bachelor's Degree in English, Writing, or related field preferred. Experience Required Mastery of English language level. Minimum of two years writing for the U.S. Department of Defense and familiar with naval letter format. Possess thorough understanding of the issues prevalent in the CENTCOM AOR and knowledge of military operations. Possess the capability to access all source information, including TS/SCI‑level information. Strong writing, analytical, and reading skills, and the ability to effectively communicate. Ten years' military experience. Writing sample required. Work Location & Travel Location: MARCENT, MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida. Travel: Contractor personnel must support the projected travel in support of government requirements to MARCENT AOR and supporting locations, which includes but is not limited to: Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq, Israel, Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Djibouti, Cyprus, Turkey, Italy, and Greece. The ideal candidate will be available for travel on less than 24 hours notice to support personnel recovery and training for forward deployed forces.
